Mark Heising founded Medley Partners, a private market investment firm, in 2004. Previously he was the Founder of VLSI Cores, which designed and licensed cryptographic integrated circuits. He holds six U.S. Patents in cryptography, compression and data communications. Mark serves on the board of directors for Sion Power. He is Chair of the Environmental Defense Fund. He is a Trustee for the Institute for Advanced Study and a Board member for the Heising-Simons Foundation and the Heising-Simons Action Fund. Mark and his wife, Liz Simons, took the Giving Pledge in 2016, publicly committing the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes. Mark earned a BS in Physics and a MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley.
Uyen Lam is a Treasury Manager with Medley Partners. Prior to joining Medley in 2012, Uyen was an Accounting Assistant at Crosslink Capital. Previously, Uyen held various fund accountant positions at Thomas Weisel Partners, HSBC Alternative Fund Services and Bisys Alternative Investment Services. Prior to that, she held various project support positions in sales, financial services, and operations companies. Uyen Lam earned a BA in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Amy Li is a Controller with Medley Partners. Prior to joining Medley in 2018, Amy was a Senior Audit Associate at RSM US LLP, where she led financial statement audits for private equity funds, venture capital funds and not-for-profit organizations. Amy earned a BS in Business Administration from San Francisco State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Edson Maduwura is Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Medley Partners and is responsible for the accounting and operations function of the firm.
Prior to joining Medley in 2012, Edson was a VP of operations at Capital Dynamics and HSBC Alternative Funds Services where he served a diverse portfolio of private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund entities. Edson began his accounting career as a Senior Associate with Deloitte’s audit practice. He earned his BS in Accounting from the University of Zimbabwe and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder as well as a Certified Public Accountant. He is also a retired Chartered Accountant in Zimbabwe.
Kristin Marcos is an Executive Assistant at Medley Partners. Prior to joining Medley in 2013, she worked at Cowen and Company, LLC, a financial services firm based in San Francisco. Kristin earned her BA in Communication Studies from San Francisco State University.
Bradly Nicholls is a Fund Accountant with Medley Partners. Prior to joining Medley in 2022, Bradly was an Accounting & Financial Analyst at Concept Entertainment Group, where he collaborated with the Controller to lead the fiscal close process and created reports to streamline accounting processes. Prior to that, he worked as a server and bartender at Thirsty Lion Gastropub and Grill as he strove for his BS in Economics from Arizona State University, Tempe.
Peter Phillips is a Managing Director with Medley Partners and focuses on fund commitments and co-investments across private equity, venture capital, real estate and credit strategies.
Prior to joining Medley in 2009, Peter was an Associate at Deutsche Bank Securities, where he worked in the Leveraged Financed Group focused on LBO, recapitalization and restructuring transactions. Previously, Peter worked as an Analyst in the Commercial Real Estate Group at Deutsche Bank focused on origination and structuring of commercial real estate debt. Peter earned his BA with honors in Economics from Middlebury College.
Pete Somerville is Senior Associate with Medley Partners and is involved across all of the firm’s investment activities. Prior to joining Medley in 2020, Pete was a Senior Associate at Cambridge Associates in the firm’s private practice, where he helped manage alternative investment portfolios for high net worth families and foundations. Pete earned a BA in Environmental Economics from Colgate University.
Lorraine Suen is a Principal with Medley Partners and focuses on fund commitments, co-investments and secondaries across private equity and venture capital strategies.
Prior to joining Medley in 2018, Lorraine was a Vice President at Capital Dynamics in their New York and San Francisco offices, where she spent nine years focused on fund and secondary investing in the US and on a global basis. Previously, Lorraine gained investment banking experience, focusing on cross-border mergers & acquisitions, as an associate at EuroConsult Capital in New York. Lorraine earned a BS in Finance & Management from Purdue University, the Krannert School of Management.
Pascal Villiger is a Managing Director with Medley Partners and focuses on fund commitments and co-investments across credit, special situations and leveraged buyout strategies.
Prior to joining Medley in 2012, Pascal was a Portfolio Manager with CalSTRS and was part of the senior team responsible for managing the private equity portfolio. Previously, Pascal was at UBS where he worked as an Executive Director within the technology investment banking group. Before joining UBS, Pascal worked at Banc of America Securities LLC within the technology investment banking and leveraged financed groups. Pascal earned a BS and MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jillian Vu is a receptionist/ administrative assistant at Medley Partners. Prior to joining Medley Partners, she was a part of the Facilities Management team for Point 72 Asset Management based in San Francisco. Jillian holds an Associates of Science degree in Nursing from Austin Community College.
Troy Waddell is Senior Associate with Medley Partners and is involved across all of the firm’s investment activities. Prior to joining Medley in 2021, Troy was an Analyst at Barings in their Charlotte office, where he focused on investing in private equity and real asset funds, co-investments, and secondaries on behalf of institutional clients. Troy earned a BS in Finance from Wake Forest University.
Brent Whisenant is a Managing Director with Medley Partners and focuses on fund commitments, secondaries and co-investments across leveraged buyout, growth and venture capital strategies.
Prior to joining Medley in 2008, Brent was a Managing Director with The Carlyle Group with Carlyle’s growth and venture fund based in San Francisco. Previously, Brent was at Robertson Stephens where he worked as a Vice President within the merger & acquisitions group. Before joining Robertson Stephens, Brent worked as an attorney for Cravath, Swaine & Moore, focusing on mergers, acquisitions, financings and securitizations. Brent started his career as an auditor with Price Waterhouse in New York City. Brent is a graduate of Brigham Young University and Columbia Law School.
